Product Registration Overview

A structured, step-by-step process to bring safe biotechnology products to market.

In accordance with the NBA Act of 2006, only properly evaluated biotechnology products should be released into the market.

Application Procedure

Company Registration

Before a company can register their product with the NBA, the company must be registered with the NBA.

Pre-submission Consultation

Client meets with the NBA Inspectorate team to discuss their application and clarify requirements.

Application Submission

Client submits a complete application dossier to the NBA for review.

Sample Submission

A product sample must be submitted to the NBA for confirmatory laboratory testing.

Payment of Fee

Client pays the product registration fee as prescribed by the NBA.

Review & Laboratory Analysis

The NBA Inspectorate team conducts documents review and laboratory analysis simultaneously.

Approval & Issuance

If application is approved, applicant is issued either:

Trial Release Permit (valid for 1 year) Product Registration Certificate (valid for 2 years)

GMO Activity Forms for applicants

Download the required forms for conducting activities involving genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

Application for Contained Use

This form authorises laboratory, greenhouse, growth-chamber or other physically contained work with a GMO where the organism and its products are not released into the environment. .

Submission: Completed forms must be submitted to the NBA Inspectorate via email (inspectorate@nba.ac.zw) or in person at our Harare office. Please include all supporting documents as per the checklist.
